I’m not gonna sugarcoat it: running 60+ miles in a week is tough stuff for me.
We’re half way through the week, and I’m sitting at 30 miles. I’ve got another 35+ to go (including my 20+ miler). It’s taken serious motivation and momentum to keep my daily miles in the double digits each day this week, but I’m not about to start slacking now.
Momentum is definitely the best word to describe how I’m staying motivated to keep up my mileage and training these days. You’ve been working hard so far; you’ve been putting in the miles so far. Every.run.counts. Ya can’t slack now!
If that tiny voice in my sleepy mind says “oh just sleep in today…”, I hear the other voice reason, “would you rather run 10 outside on trails this AM or 10 after work on a treadmill?”. That’s enough to get me out of bed.
It’s not a “Eh, I should go running today” kinda feeling. It’s a “I will go running today” kinda feeling. It’s a certainty It’s a fact. It’s something that simply must be done. No ifs ands or buts.
Just get it done.
It’s kind of empowering. I love the motivation this snowball affect has on me.
