Kenya was amazing.
While we lived in the lap of luxury during our breathtaking 3-day safari, we chose to ‘rough’ it around the cities of Nairobi and Mombasa. We chose to stay in downtown city hostels instead of fivestar highrises, and bonded over it. We opted to take a 17 hour trainride (1 way) on this really cool but olllllllllld and poorly equipped train to travel across Kenya with not a single other tourist, and loved it. We laughed as we squeezed into tuktuks and got lost finding the coolest hole in the wall spots for food (restaurant doesn’t seem to be the right word). A side street vendor made my day after he taught me how to make my own naan.
Guys, it was awesome.
From the incredible safari to the hot, dirty, developing real world experience we chose to immerse ourselves in, I discovered that Kenya is a juxtaposition of gorgeous and dirty, new and old, mountainous and tropical, and so very full of cultural richness.
I took some 25 minutes of video footage while we were there. It was a fun process rewatching and editing all the clips to put this together.
If you just want the safari parts, start at 1:00 :) To get the whole trip experience, start from the beginning!
Enjoy!
