I can’t believe it’s been a year since we wandered around the humane society, excited and anxious to find our future puppy. We knew we wanted to adopt a big breed (a lab or golden or border collie), as a puppy (less than 6 months old), so our new marriage could grow with our new puppy.
I remember the “yes” moment, when Weez and I knew she was the one.
I remember holding her little, wiggly, squishy, 15lb body in my lap as we drove home.
I remember all the accidents in the house. And the floor boards she used to chew.
I remember the whimpering in the night. And the 5AM wake up cries every morning.
Crazy how time flies….
Cabo sleeps through the night, and waits till 7AM to wake us up now. She stopped chewing on walls, but still finds mail to destroy. She hasn’t had an accident in the house in ages. She’s learned how to swim, hike, and run loose-leash with us. She gives the best wet kisses. If you don’t brace yourself, she might just tackle you over. Her eyebrows can tell you 20 different stories, and if she starts chasing her tail she won’t stop till she spins out.
And now she’s 70lbs! 70!
We love her with all our hearts and absolutely cannot imagine life without her in it.
Happy Adoption Day, Cabo! I can’t believe it’s been a year! You’re our lil’ one!
