Blogging can often become just a one-way street, but I really love discussions and when you guys comment/participate on my posts. I write because I love to, but I also write for YOU. So if there’s a topic you’d like me to bring up, lemme know! I’d love it if you get as much out of this blog as I do. It’s a two way street!
On to the questions!
Holly asked… “How on earth do you keep science from infringing on your nights and weekends, thereby giving you time for so many adventures? No matter what I do, my work creeps into my “un-work” time!”:
I love science and being a chemistry graduate student, but I also really love time with Weez/my family/friends/puppy/in the mountains. I love what I’m doing when I’m in lab, but as soon as I step out of lab, I don’t know, my mind lets me turns off the work switch.
“How do you and Weez manage being in the same field, and not letting chemistry talk over take all your conversations?? (or maybe it does… does it?)”:
Haha, it definitely still does, but in a good way! Weez and I literally work side by side in our lab (his work space/hood is directly next to mine), and personally I love it. I get to work/talk to my best friend every day. Of course we chat about chemistry outside of work, but again with the ‘off-switch’ thing, it’s easy to chat about all the other great stuff in our lives once we leave lab.
Priya asked… “If I gave you a million dollars tomorrow, what would you do with it?”:
I’d put it all on red :)
“If you could take out one person (living or dead) out to lunch who would it be and what would you ask them?”:
This is such a tough one. There are handfuls of people, but sometimes I really wish I could have met and known my great grandpa papa. I’d ask him about my dad, and mom, and what it was like growing up back in those days.
“Post your favorite picture that you as a photographer have taken and tell us why you chose that picture”:
I love this photo because the feeling it gives me, thinking back to exactly where we were, who I was with, and what we were doing that summer. I didn’t know it at the time, but this photo taught me to really appreciate the days you have with the people you love.
Heidi asked… “What trail is it that you love so much?”:
My favorite running trails are Marshal Mesa to Fowler Trail and Mags. I live near the Chautauqua trails behind NCAR, and love running those too :) Come join me for a trail run!
Jessica asked… “What was your favorite race and why?”:
5K HS cross country “nationals” for Southeast Asian Schools called IASAS; 2001; Taipei, Taiwan. I love this race the most because of the moment that happened as soon as I crossed the finish line. That’s my brother holding me up :) (In a sprint-out to the end, I won the race and he was waiting for me with open arms at the end of the shoot… I immediately collapsed into them)
Melon asked… “Why do you always wear your running watch?”:
Because I’m naked without it! That, and it’s totally fashionable. Duh.
“Are you glad we didn’t let you wear flip flops at your wedding?”:
Hey man, Old Navy white flip flops would have been awesome. But you’re right, I loooooved the shoes I wore instead (thanks for finding them in India for me, Priya!).
“What is the most embarrassing thing you wore to class in high school?”:
What didn’t I wear in HS that wasn’t dorky/embarrassing? I think you’d be best answering this question for me, Mel. Leave a comment of something you remember me wearing that was awesome/embarrassing for everyone else to read. Those clunky white shoes? I know Niki would agree with that.
“Who would you punch in the face if you could?”:
That is such an un-Erin thing to ask! Um, Hitler?
“How long did it take you to perfect the Erin Face?”:
Bahahaha I can’t even believe I took the time to search through old photos to compile this, but here ya go, guys. The “efo” face. Perfected since freshman year of college (you can thank my friend Nick for teaching me this face… I blame him).
Thanks for the questions you guys! I hope you had as much fun reading about my randomness, as I did putting these answers together.
Comment question for the day: Answer one of those same questions above if they’re applicable to you! I want to know more about you!
