Seeing Obama Speak at the Univ of CO

Red, blue, conservative, liberal. It doesn’t matter what your political stance is, being in the presence of THE President of the United States of America is just plain cool. An honor. A once in your lifetime experience. And I was so fortunate to see Obama speak on campus last night.

It was well worth the wait to pick up tickets on Sunday. It was well worth the wait to get into the Coors Event Center. I can’t believe I saw the president speak, in person, 100 ft from me.

Obama spoke about the value and investment (personally, and for the country/economy) of a college education, and the impact that student loans have on those who need the financial aid.

Anyhoo, here are a few of my fave photos we took from the event. We were so close to the stage!

Our crew, about 15 rows from the front!

It was a great night and I left inspired, appreciative, and honored to be an American. Sorry to be cheesy, but America is totally awesome. I have the freedom to write whatever I want on this blog, I have the freedom to vote for whoever I want, I have the freedom to be whoever I want. And that’s pretty cool.

Have you ever seen a president speak live, before? When?

In one summer I saw George Bush twice. He was my brothers Commencement speaker at West Point in 2002. Then saw him throw out the first pitch at a baseball game a few weeks later. It is certainly a really cool experience!

That’s awesome! My sister graduated from West Point in ’05! (proud to be a sibling of a West Point Cadet!)

  2. That is so cool! I’m sad that I missed it :( He came to Denver a few years back when he was campaigning and I went and saw him speak at Civic Center Park. That was crazy cause the secret service men were all over the rooftops, guarding him and whatnot. Quite the atmosphere!

I hear the Civic Center park was jaaaaampacked for that event! Weez was at it too, and his pictures blow my mind. Massive crowds kind of scare me. Haha. But that’s so cool that you got to see him live!

That is AMAZING!!! I saw him in Cincinnati (Univ of Cincy) before he was president and he’s so engaging to watch. I agree with you – no matter what side of the fence you’re one, it’s definitely an honor to be able to see the President speak – and to be so close!!! Very cool. :) Too bad you weren’t at The Sink when he popped in!

Color me VERY green! That is just too cool. And I agree, it doesn’t matter your politics, a president is a president. We should all appreciate a chance to see them live.

That said, here I am, just outside DC and have yet to see a pres. live!

  5. I hate admitting this, but in all the pictures above I kept trying to find you in the crowd. Then I realized, you were behind the lens, not in front of it. DUH. Oh man, I miss you.

That is really awesome, I had no idea he was even in Colorado or I would have tried to make it! I would love to hear him speak one of these days. It looks like you had some great seats for the event as well.
