I went for my last track workout this morning: 4x400m at 7:30 pace, with 400m jog between each repeat. Then a bunch of stretching and drills. Just something light to shake out the legs, and remind myself that maybe I have a little speed in there. But it’s been a rough week (running-wise) and I haven’t felt all that fresh. I’m hoping today’s light speed workout will help loosen up my stiff legs.
My pacing friend, Sam, has been doing an awesome job pumping me up. Between the emails and rando text messages, it sounds like he’s more excited than I am. Which is a cool feeling. It’s good to know that my pacer is more confident than ever, and I’ll be in good hands. Our motto for this race: We. Got. This. Hell yeah we do. We got this.
It’s my mom’s birthday today!
To the woman I look up to most in life, happy birthday. You’re so special to me. I love how you make me feel whole when I’m homesick. The way you play with my hair. How you fill the candy jar with my favorite candy before I come home. I love your voice and your laugh and your heart. You’re my mama. And it’s your birthday.
Happy birthday, mama. I love you so.
