Oooooooof

on

My holiday weekend was full to the brim with friends and family, fun activities, and food. Maybe too much food. I’ve been using rolling as my primary mode of transportation since Thursday, seeing as I probably consumed 87 pounds of food over the past 4 days.
And it’s painfully obvious how much food I’ve consumed every time I run. I’ve been feeling ultra sluggish. With the California International Marathon on Sunday, that’s not a super awesome feeling to be feeling right now. But the good news is that I’m still getting the runs in, and I’ve been eating healthy since Thursday.

4 miles on Friday.
– Didn’t feel good, but glad I got out and gone them done.
5 miles on Saturday.
– I ran with an old friend from college who was back in town visiting. He’s a Boulderite and super super speedy, and showed me new trails I’ve never run before! It was great to catch up, Gilbert!
8 miles on Sunday.
–  Straight up sluggish/painful/slooooowww. Every step was hard. Not exactly a confidence booster but hopefully the lighter mileage this week will help put that pep in my step.

This is the last taper week, so my mileage will be super low: 4 miles today, 3 miles Tuesday, off on Wednesday, 2 miles Thursday, and 1-2 mile shake-out runs on Friday/Saturday. Oh man, this is gettin’ real now, guys. I’m definitely starting to get nervous. Nervous excited.

In other news, Cabo is officially 5 months old and ommmgggg she is CUTE. She loves to snuggle on the couch,
go on walks to the mountains,
and put everything in her mouth, causing us to pry the sticks and crabapples and dirt and plastic bits out of her mouth.
But man, she’s great and we’re so glad she’s ours.

When we’re cooking in the kitchen, she positions herself on her bed so that she can see us at all times. When one of us leaves the apartment, Cabo will sit at the door until we come back. When we come home after being away for a few minutes/hours, she’s so wiggly and excited it sounds like she’s almost crying a little. If I’m in the bathroom getting ready and Weez is in the kitchen, she’ll walk back and forth to check in on us constantly.

She lets us know how much she loves us every day. And it warms my heart.

Do you have a dog? Tell me about him/her! Bonus points if you email me a picture :) I love dogs!
