Fakesgiving 2011 :)

My grad school friends throw a “friends-thanksgiving” aka, Fakesgiving, every year on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Pot luck style, everyone brings a different addition to the turkey day feast.

This year’s party was a blast (as always), and the food was phenominal. We’re all excellent cooks, if I don’t say so myself. I stuffed myself silly with my favs and just barely had room for a slice of cherry pie afterwards.
The host house was bustling with friends and dogs and good conversation.
A pre-meal toast was shared before we ate… lots of laughs and smiles.
And in proper tradition, after the feast but before the pies, we took turns hand whipping fresh whipped cream. To the song, “Whip It” on the stereo. Everyone participates in the whipping fun. It’s hilarious.
Mmmm, I love fakesgiving. Thanks for hosting the celebration, Laura and Dan!

What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?
I can’t wait to celebrate this year’s holiday up in Wyoming with my brother, his awesome girlfriend, and her family.

Anyone running in a Turkey Trot?
We had such a blast at the Anthem Turkey Day 5k last year, that we decided to volunteer at it this year :)

What’s your fav food on Thanksgiving?
Definitely mashed potatoes. And green bean casserole. I always go for seconds of those.

That sounds like a blast. i always enjoy time w/ family, but time w/ friends is so much fun too! We’re headed to Ohio to spend the long weekend with family. Fingers crossed for the traffic gods to keep the roads clear!

Sounds (and looks) like you guys had a great time!! We always run the LB Turkey Trot that morning which has become a family tradition, then head over to my Aunts house for lots of delicious food! My favs are broccoli caserole and sweet potatoes (with pineapple and marshmellows!)
    Happy Thanksgiving!!!
