For the past 3 years, I’ve spent Halloween in Boulder with my grad school friends and it’s ALWAYS been a blast. My brother has always been the one to drive down to Boulder for the occasion, so I decided to return the favor this year, and we tearfully missed out of the annual grad student party, to celebrate the festivities with my brother and his buds.
We had a blast. Not only because anytime with my brother + cowboy country is awesome, but because he and his friends had genius costume ideas for our group.
We were the cast from Futurama!
And we looked good doin’ it. I was Leela (3rd from the left). I really gotta hand it to my brother (Bender) and his gf Cena (Zoidberg), their costumes were true commitments to the spirit of Halloween.
Have you ever been to a party and people can’t figure out what you dressed up as? Fortunately for me, this was not an issue this year. I think my cyclops eye or the purple wig may have given it away.
I wanted to wear my Leela costume one more time for last night’s Halloween Run with Courtney and Erica, but no amount of bobbypins could keep that wig on my head. I busted out my Browns jersey (I am from Ohio, you know) and ran as a football fan/player.
Courtney was an 80/90s runner, rockin’ some sweet tube socks and a hardcore side ponytail. Erica rolled up in a pirate costume, complete with an eye patch. Also worth noting: Erica “arrrrgggg”‘ed at every person we passed on the trails during those 6 miles. It was hilarious. I know Erica will probably kill me for posting this picture, but it’s too funny not to post.
We ran our 6 miles during the sunset and into the darkness. The run involved a few tunnels (that were pitch black, mind you), and our fearless leader (Courtney) told us to suck it up and fear not the darkness. This is why Courtney is awesome, she’s not afraid to tell you to suck it up and stop acting like a girl :P
After our run, I hustled home ready and waiting for kids to come trick or treating. Much to my dismay, NO ONE CAME BY. I may have been a little depressed about that. I was so looking forward to handing out candy :( But my mom and dad were able to hand out candy back home, so I lived vicariously through them.
Now, we’re left with two giant bags of kitkats and m&ms. Oh DARN. (they’ll be gone by Friday).
Did you have any trick or treaters come by? What’s your fav Halloween candy? If you dressed up this year, what’d you dress up as?
