It’s refreshing what a solid night’s sleep and an early morning run can do for the mind and body. I feel rejuvenated from the busy weekend we had!
We left Boulder and drove straight through the night on Thursday after work, and finally got to our destination in central Illinois in the early afternoon Friday. We went for a quick run (6 miles) and got to bed as early as we could since we were BEAT.
Before my cousin’s wedding on Saturday, Weez and I went for a 10 miler. Not exactly the easy, long/slow distance we were hoping for since a.) it was 96 degrees out b.) the midwest is HUMID, dawg and c.) apparently central IL doesn’t believe in sidewalks. We had to dodge cars, dogs, and plow our way through tall grass when we eventually found the “prairie trails” we had found on the map the day before. Not exactly the trails we’re used to running on in Colorado, but challenging nonetheless!
After our run, we had lunch with my mom, brother, and his gf, then got all dressed up for the wedding! My cousin’s wedding was GORGEOUS. I mean, honestly, straight out of a fairy tale. We had a blast dancing the night away, catching up with my aunts/uncles/cousins, eating, drinking, and just plain having a great time.
How gorgeous are THEY! Seriously, these two did not stop smiling all night. Pure bliss :)
During the father-daughter dance, Sara got up on her dad’s shoes, just like we all used to when we’d dance with our dads when we were little. I totally lost it and cried my eyes out. It was too precious.
The night was simply perfect. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to come from such a strong, tight-knit family.
Saying goodbye on Sunday wasn’t too hard because we all know we’ll be seeing each other in 2 short months at our wedding! Weez and I were able to soak up tons of inspiration from my cousin’s wedding, and get lots of great advice from the newlyweds. They are so wonderful together, and I feel so thankful to have been a part of their big day!
