Avery Brewery put on an amazing event yet again this year with their 4k on the 4th. From the easy registration/bib pick-up, to the simple fast course, to the delish food and generous beer they gave out at the end, Avery Brewery really knows how to organize a great race!
This year’s 4k was especially awesome because a ton of friends joined us.
My goal for the 4k was to run faster than last year (17:10). My game plan was to just go all out, as fast as I could from the start and try to hold the heck on. Not the most genius of game plans, but it was fun to run fast nonetheless!
Mile 1: 6:25
Mile 2: 7:10
4k finish: 17:09 (6:54 pace)
Overall Place: 95 out of 514
Age group (20-24): 4 out of 20
As I came sprinting through the finish line, I realized I finished a mere second ahead of my time from last year! WOOT! Not bad after having had surgery two months ago! I was happily pleased :) Weez PR’d from his last year time by 25 seconds, which was awesome.
Sounds like everyone else had a blast, too. I love when I can convince a few of my non-runner friends to come out for a race. I know they had fun challenging themselves, and it made me happy to see them running. Everyone should run :) It’s the best. It was so great having them all there! Sweaty post-race photo:
After the race, we made our way back to Averys to enjoy the delicious breakfast and free beer. MmmmMmm yes. Overall, it was a great day and a fun, fast 4k!
Thanks again for the great race, Avery Brewery!
