What. A. BLAST.
I’ve lived in Boulder for three years but this was the first time I was in town for Memorial Day weekend (because I had been doing THIS and THIS), so I was really excited to run the Bolder Boulder this year. Weez and I decided to sport our patriotic pride and run the 10k while hootin’/hollerin’ with as much American spirit as possible. Hilarity ensued.
Pictures speak louder than words… so here ya go! The start…
Notice, no one else around us had dressed up. We got many a confused stare. We just flashed some peace signs, our best attempts at salutes, and kept cheering “I luhv ‘murica!” and “Thank you troops!” I think people enjoyed our enthusiasm. We certainly had a blast.
The course was so much fun. There were TONS of spectators lining the streets, cheering with cow bells and horns and loud speakers. We saw college kids handing out beer and donuts (to which, I had to partake. obvi.) and little kids handing out high fives. There were belly dancers. And a slip and slide. There were bands at every turn, so we were always in the presence of good, live music.
The Folsom St hill wasn’t nearly as rough as I thought it’d be, especially after 6 miles of cheering to the crowds and fully soaking up the BB experience.
The course finishes in the Univ of CO football stadium which was SO cool. Running into a huge D1 stadium like that kind of makes you feel like a rock star.
Post finish line phot!
All that fun and a solid 52:41 finisher time, too. Booya!
The race could not have been more fun :) I love where I live and I can’t WAIT to run the Bolder Boulder again!
