After several days of rainy, cold weather, it was really nice to run in shorts and a long sleeve this morning :)
I ran 3 miles on Sunday, too. Woohoo, 6 miles in two days! Every run feels stronger because my abs are finally able to support my body. When I run, it almost feels like a little side cramp/stitch, but I’ve been really good at listening to my body so I don’t over do it.
I’m smiling ear to ear about running again. Lovin’ it. I can’t tell you how thankful I am that the surgery went smoothly and the recovery time was so minimal.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how I “missed” Boston this year. The truth is, I’m sad that I missed meeting up with some really great friends that I’ve gotten to know over the past year. But you know what? We’ve only gotten closer since the incident. Sure, I was in really solid shape and yes, my legs were dying to run another marathon, but I’ve got my whole life ahead of me to run marathons and trail races and relay races. I don’t mean to disrespect or downplay the magic that is The Boston marathon, but really, running inside those barriers is not my end all/be all. It does not define the runner I am. I love running for me, but I love running for the company. I love running fast, but I can’t tell you how much I love long distance trail running more.
It’s pretty much 100% unlikely that I’ll BQ before registration opens for 2012. I’m 110% OK with that. I’ve got a great line up of non-marathon events this summer that I can’t wait to tell you about.
May 30: Bolder Boulder 10k
June 12: Greeley Sprint Triathlon (my first tri!!!)
June 24-26: Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference
June 26: Tough Mudder Colorado
August 27-28: Colorado Relay
Along with these great events I’m looking forward to, Weez and I will be hiking mountains this summer to capture summit photos. The goal is the capture 20+ summit photos of the two of us, to use in our centerpieces for our wedding (wedding planning is going great, btw, I love it!). We’ve got 9 already (like the one I posted on Saturday), we can’t wait to hike more :)
What’s on your plate for the summer? Any fun relays or races you’ve signed up for? If you’re doing any of the same events as I am, be sure to let me know!
I love that idea for the centerpieces! What a great goal for the summer.
I love your plan for the summit photos, so unique! It’s nice to hear a bride doing something original.
I’m happy you are getting your stride back and are at peace with the Boston Marathon. You’ve got a lot coming up and you’re going to rock them all. :)
I want to run a marathon as a relay! i think that would be SUPER fun!
