It’s been a mere 18 days since I had major surgery on my abdomen and I’m so happy to say that I almost feel 100% back to my normal self again. Laparoscopic surgery FTW!
My body rewarded my efforts of laying low for two straight weeks (which was a lot harder than I thought it would be) by giving me the most enjoyable weekend. Thank you, body, thank you so much.
Guess what I got to do on Saturday morning? …I went RUNNING!
It was glorious. All 1.5 miles were pure bliss. I’m just so amazed at the human body. One week ago, I could barely walk upright. But now? Running again. I’m so thankful for modern technology. My doctor gave me the green light last week, so I was excited to give it a go. Besides feeling like I’ve lost all muscle in my quads and gluts, the run felt great. I’m pumped to get back at it. Slowly but surely!
The rest of Saturday just kept getting better. Not only was it gorgeous outside (sunny and 75), I went to a graduation + birthday party of a good friend of mine. Of course, I got no pictures with the actual graduate/birthday boy, but we have all summer to live it up before he takes off for grad school.
My brother came down to celebrate, too, which is always a good time. Have I mentioned how awesome it is that he’s only a 2.5 hr drive away?! Love it.
It felt great to be up and social again. Sometimes, ya just gotta put some make up and a cute dress on, and go out with friends. Does the spirit good.
With the warm weather we’ve been having and the undergrads no longer on campus, it really feels like summer now. Hooray!
