Rokit Fuel Cereal and Energy Mix Review

A while back, a pretty cool company called Rokit Fuel contacted me to see if I would review a couple of their products. I’m always up to try new things, so I said sure! And they sent me out 2 different samples: one of their cereals and one of their “energy mixes”.

I want to first say that I totally dig the philosophy of this company. They make good-for-you endurance foods, aimed for athletes who need/want to be aware of what they’re putting in their bodies. They use whole foods (from 9 to 19 different kinds in each item) that you can actually see, identify, and pronounce before nom’ing down. I can get on board with that!

Review #1, the Cereal:
A close up of the good stuff:
Just from looking at this picture you can tell the texture of this cereal is non conventional, but you can identify what you’re eating: almonds, dried cherries, chia seeds, rolled oats… yum. It reminds me a lot of granola, but a finer/thinner texture.

The cereal is good. Because the texture is so much finer ground that I’m used to (compared to granola), it really soaked up the milk I used, turning it into more of a porridge. I liked that.

Review #2: The Energy Mix:
When I got to chose which flavor I wanted, I was immediately drawn to this one. Anything with chocolate should please me! But I’ll admit, when I opened the package, I was a little weirded out by this concept. The energy mix is an even finer ground almost oatmeal-like solid. The directions literally say “just add water. So I added water to the inside of the package and kneeded the goo/oatmeal/mixture around. I wanted to simulate what it’d be like to use this while running/hiking, so I just used room temperature water.
The energy mix turns into a squeeze-able substance that you just mush out of the package into your mouth. The flavor was alright (not quite as delish as I was hoping it would be), but I didn’t like the texture. It wasn’t soft like oatmeal and it wasn’t crunchy like granola. And it was odd eating at it room temperature. I really wanted to like this stuff because I recognize how good it is for me, but I just didn’t unfortunately.

The bottom line:

Rokit Fuel Cereal:

  • Flavor: 9/10
  • Texture: 8/10
  • Overall Impression: 8/10
  • Would I buy this for myself? Yes

Rokit Fuel Energy Mix:

  • Flavor: 6/10
  • Texture: 2/10
  • Overall Impression: 4/10
  • Would I buy this for myself? No

I really appreciate Rokit Fuel sending me a few of their products to sample and review for you guys. I’m bummed that I didn’t like their energy mix very much, but everyone is different and I’m sure a lot of folks like this stuff. Either way, you should go and check it out for yourself! They’re a great company with a solid philosophy!

Disclaimer: Rokit Fuel sent me this product, free of charge. These opinions are strictly my own from personal experience with the product.

That’s so cool that you get to do reviews of things! I see tons of people doing it lately! Guess I need more followers :) That cereal looks good but I’d probably be in the same boat as you for the energy mix. I have a hard time with textures.
