Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope I show my love for my family and friends EVERYDAY, but cheers to a day that’s meant to highlight how lucky I am to have the people that I do in my life. I’m truly blessed :) Love you guys.
This past weekend, my brother ran the Screamin’ Snowman 10k snowshoe race, held up in Nederland. I’ve got made respect for snow shoe-ers. Snow shoeing just by itself on a groomed, flat trail is one thing… but RUNNING it, on a non-groomed mountain side is another beast. The 1st place dude came truckin’ in around 72 minutes (11:30 pace). That should indicate how crazy tough snowshoe running is.
Anyways, Will had a blast, dominated the trails (cough cough, took 1st place in his age group), and Weez and I had a blast spectating. Before Will’s run…
They started by running up, up, UP. Will’s in there somewhere, wearing red shorts and black tights. Can you spot him?
The trails were way back in the woods, so we couldn’t exactly follow him. But we had a lot of fun in the down time…
After we had our fun, we made our way to the finish line to cheer Will in!
Even with snowshoes on, he’s got great running form. Baller status. Proud of you, bro!
After watching this year, I really want to run it next year! What an awesome event :) Snowshoers are also such friendly peeps! Only out west, do crazy runners throw snowshoes on their feet and trek through mounds of snow and trails and trees. Love it.
Congrats again, big bro!
