Over the weekend, I got to hang out with these lil’ ones.
Tell me these twins aren’t the cutest little things? The CHEEKS. Ahhhh, I die. Seeing as these twins are my post doc’s, I can’t get all psycho lovey-dovey on them (even though I still do), so come on Big Sis, why don’t ya pop out that little bun in the oven already?? I’m ready to be an AUNT!
Anyways, yes, babies were part of my perfectly relaxing weekend.
I also bought 6 avocados for $2 (gotta love farmers markets), watched 2 Harry Potter movies back to back, did some Christmas shopping (I’m on the ball this year), saw an incredible movie/speaker (more on that later), and ran 15 minutes on Saturday with no knee pain!
Yesterday, I was allowed to move up to 18 minutes of running. Is it emotionally painfully slow to only be increasing my running distance by a few minutes per week? Yes. But it is physically painful? Not one bit! I feel like a kid on Christmas every other morning when I can hop out the door for my 15-18 minutes of running. And I am so thankful my knee isn’t hurting me. Come hell or high water, I’m going to Boston darnit!
The best part of my 18 minute run yesterday? My knee didn’t ache at all the rest of the day. I’ll admit, the past three weeks of these short runs, my knee would ache afterwards – not painful or anything, just like a 0.5 out of 10 kind of thing. So that was really encouraging.
I also bought new running shoes, which (call it the placebo affect if you’d like), makes me feel like I’m starting over fresh with new legs too.
No more of this patellofemoral syndrome nonsense… New legs, please!
