#1: Attend a CU Football Game… & Paint My Face

Before I show you some sweet pictures from this past weekend, I wanted to thank you guys for encouraging me to sign up for Boston :) The main concern I have, though, is that at this point in time I physically can’t even start running at all. And I’m worried I won’t be healed by say, mid Feb/March when I need to get the longer runs in. And if I can’t run a 16 or 18 miler before Boston, there’s little change I’ll be able to pull off 26.2 without serious pain/damage to my knee. So, yeah. We’ll see!

Aaaaaaaanyways! On the to fun stuff! This weekend, 3 friends and I went to the University of Colorado football game! The Buffs played Hawaii’s Warriors and we decided to paint our faces and show our black and gold pride. I had on eye black and a bandana, meanwhile Weez went all out and painted his entire face half gold, half black.

The game was really good (especially once CU’s offense turned it on in the second half) and more than anything, it was just neat to be part of the huge D1 football experience. I went to a D3 college, so this kind of crowd is totally different and fun. During halftime, my favorite part was when they brought out Ralphie the buffalo (yes, a real live buffalo), to run around the field. Safe? Necessary? Probably not, but it was totally cool.

Run Ralphie Run!

CU ended up winning, 31-13 against Hawaii and the student section to our lower right (they’re all in yellow in the picture below) all started chanting at the end. It was a lot of fun! And painting my face for a home football game? I can now check off Number One on my list of 25 things to do before turning 25 :)

Go Buffs!

I don’t know if that counts as going all-out with the face paint, but all in all, I’d give you a low B, high C for #1 on the list. That’s good enough to graduate, and certainly would qualify as a pass in a pass/fail judgment. So, you have my permission to cross that off the list.

I have a CU football sweatshirt that I’ve had for 8 years and it is hands down my favorite. Love it! So glad you had fun. My college sucked and NO ONE got into it, so, the games weren’t fun. Also, UT has Bevo. He doesn’t usually run the field, he’s more there to be there. And I suspect he’s heavily sedated.
