Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! It was a great day, indeed, and I ate LOTS (probably too much) (wait, that’s not possible) of cake/cookies/cupcakes. Mmm. After work, my lab mates and I went downtown to The Med to enjoy a few happy hour priced red sangrias and cheap tapas. It was delish.
This morning, I went over to the student health center this to schedule more physical therapy for the ol’ ITB/knee. I honestly thought taking THREE MONTHS off from running would do the trick, reduce the inflammation, and allow me to enjoy a pain-free run again, but I guess not. I woke up this morning realizing that being borderline depressed about the situation wasn’t going to fix it, so back to PT I go! I’ll be working with my homeboy, Paul, and I hope he can fix me. I gave up Denver because of this knee, I refuse to give up Boston. I’ve got about 3-4 months before I need to start training for the Boston marathon, so that should be seriously (it BETTER be, at least) enough time to heal. Fingers crossed.
Also this morning, I decided to start with Day 1 of Goal 4. I’m suuuuuuuper bad about drinking water throughout the day. I rarely make it through an entire Nalgene/32 oz. of water on any given day. Come to think of it, I don’t really drink much liquid (coffee/water/juice) at all, ever (terrible, I know, I know). So that’s why I’d like to start getting into the habit of drinking a full 32 oz. nalg everyday for one month. Maybe accomplishing that goal will help train me to start drinking more water, more often. And like those Aquafina commercials… “The more water you drink, the better you’ll feel!”
