For the past 4 weeks, I’ve had my head buried in scientific literature, writing my oral exam paper, studying for my oral exam, going through the oral exam, and power-pointing up a storm (and presenting my research) at my group research meeting last night. Needlesstosay, I’m a little burned out on science. The remedy? This coming weekend.
I’ve got an awesome weekend line up and I’m soooooo looking forward to relaxing and taking my mind off science for a few days.
Friday night, my girl friends and I are dressing up (yayy I get to bust out the cute clothes I never get to wear ’cause I work in a chemistry lab) and heading down to Denver to check out the Denver Art Museum. (I’ve never been! Have any of you? What are the must-see exhibits?) And perhaps some martinis afterwards :)
Saturday, I’m sleeping in darnit and in the evening, my friend is swinging through town and we’ll probably go out to dinner and lay low because…
Sunday is the Boulder Distance Carnival! It’s a 15k trail race up at the Boulder reservoir. I signed Weez and myself up for it a few weeks ago, and it’ll be our first race together! Well actually, it’s going to be much more fun than just the 15k trail race. This weekend is supposed to be my last 20 miler before tapering for the Cleveland marathon. So we’re going to run to the race start (which is about 5.5 miles from Weez’s apartment), run the race (15k = 9.3 miles), and run back home (to round out 20 total miles).
I’m going to bring my camera phone along to document our “journey”, to take pictures and make silly videos. It’s going to be an adventure and I’m really excited! So stay tuned for that race/20 mile recap next week!
Bring on the weekend. I. Can’t. Wait.
