It was pretty hard saying bye to the fluff of my life last night. She’ll be in such great hands, with three friends who love and spoil her silly.

I woke up this morning with a huge smile on my face and my heart racing. Anticipation. Excitement. All I can verbalize is, “is this real life?!” “are we really doing this?!?”

Dude.

We are totally doing this.

Not ‘when I grow up’ or ‘in a few more years’. But today.

Today, we are flying to Kenya.

The bags were packed over the weekend.

The weather stalked.

Hello, warmth.

Passports and plane snacks and books within arm’s reach. Canon DSLR lenses and anti-malaria meds tucked away. Safari shorts and swim suits and running clothes rolled up in my backpack. We’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

12 days. A new continent to visit. A new adventure to begin.
