1.) The hard track workout we did on Tuesday morning. It was less than 5*F out. The track was covered in a slick layer of snow. And we busted out 5x800s (@3:10) and 2x400s (<1:30) at times consistent with last week’s effort.
2.) Thursday’s midweek long run: Weez and I got out the door when it was still dark, and ran along sidewalks until it got light enough (aka, safe enough) to run on the trails. The miles flew by, and it was nice to work out the soreness from the track workout. I love how the city has a different feel to it when it’s dark, and the streets are quiet. Then enjoying the Boulder sunrise, over the Flatirons, lighting them on fire with a red glow.
3.) Listening to my body, and deciding to take an extra day of rest this week. Boston’s still 3 months out, there’s no hurry. I’ve got plenty of time to get my miles in. My relationship with running has been so great lately, and I just want to run every day because I love how it makes me feel. But knowing when to take a rest day is important, so I dialed it back.
4.) Hanging out with our friends, and godson last night. Though Weez and I aren’t to the family-planning point, it really warms my heart to see how natural Weez is with that little guy. Makes me smile. I made a double batch of Creamy Baked Chicken Taquitos to bring over for the new parents (and a cheese-free/salsa chicken batch for Weez). They were a big hit. I highly recommend them!
Our big trip starts on Tuesday morning. Bright and early. We’ve pretty much taken care of everything we need to do, besides packing our bags. Which will be on my To Do list for this weekend. Along with packing up all of Cabo’s stuff for our friend who’s dogging sitting her. We’ve slowly been running errands for the past week, and I *think* we’ve gotten everything taken care of.
I need your help though! I just finished The Fault in Our Stars (so so good, go buy it and read it today), but I need a new book to bring with me on the plane! Ideally, I’d like it to be:
- short(ish), <300 pages)
- a light, fun read
Any book suggestions??
Do you like to pack for trips days ahead of time like me, or the day-before?
