When I think about my 2012 as a whole, I have such raw, all encompassing, downright intense emotions. Some stuff, I blogged about. Some, I held to myself.
Joy at a friend’s wedding. Anxiety from new grad school challenges. Love for my incredible husband, family, and friends who make me happy everyday. Shame felt for body image issues. Thrill during our Asia adventure. Excitement for the future. Grief from family members’ passings in January.
The steady constant has always been you, Weez. You hold me up when I’m down, and lift me higher when I’m happy. Everything is better because of you’re in my life.
But it’s time for a recount of photographed memories from 2012… here we go!

July: 7-days in my old hometown of Singapore! I went to present research at a large conference in Singapore, and stuck around for a few extra days of vacation

August: 3-day backpacking trip on the Colorado Trail with Peter, Laurie, Nick, and Weez (Nick not shown)

Dec: celebrated our second Christmas married, with both sides of our families (aka, the best Christmas of my life)
Looking through the photos, it’s easy to see 2012 was spent surrounded by friends and family :) Just the way I want to live life! I wouldn’t be who I am today, if it weren’t for the people I am so lucky to have in my life.
Life has it’s hardships, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies; I cried with a heavy heart more than a handful of times this year. But those dark moments were lifted by all the warmth and love from happier times.
2012 was truly somethin’ else, and ya know what? I’ve got a good feeling 2013 might – just might – outdo the amazingness that was 2012. Cheers to the new year!

You’ve had an amazing year!! Hope 2013 is good to you
and you, the same, my friend!
Great photos!! When I finally meet you in person some day – I want to hear all about your asia trip (and growing up in singapore!!) and your upcoming africa trip!!! #jealous
We should meet up for a run sometime! I’d love that!
Loved this! What a great year it has been for you. Cheers to more memories in 2013!!
Happy New Year!
I’ve always lenjoyed your photos and, after reading this post, realize that you choose the lens you look through; not only in your photos you take, but also in the way you choose to look at your life. I think that’s why you always sound so positive (and I don’t mean in a fake, nothing-ever-goes-wrong way). I like how real you are and look forward to following along in 2013 :)
Lisa, that is such a kind thing to say. You made my day with this response, thank you so much. Happy new year to you and your family!
WHAT UP AUGUST!!!!!!
Can you seriously get married again?! Your wedding was incredible.
