One week in Singapore is not nearly enough. This city is incredible. And I’m not just saying that because I lived there for 6 years and have sentimental attachement.
The cultural diversity. The insane skyline. The impeccably clean sidewalks. The luscious geography. The dedicated running/hiking trails and park space (despite being only 274 sq. miles and housing 5.2 million people). The food. The easiest, completely encompassing public transport. The night life. The tourist attractions. The local cuisine.
Honestly, if you haven’t been to Singapore, you just have to :) You’ll understand. It’s worth the hype it gets.
Since we were only there for 7 days, we crammed in as much as we could. And we still didn’t cover half of it.
I had a blast being able to show Weez my old homes, middle/high school, local hang out spots, running trails, and so much of what made Singapore home to me. But since those are photos and memories that are only dear to me, I’ll share the stuff you guys would love to see, aka, everything else…
And these were just the side trips and how we enjoyed our free time!
We went to Singapore to participate in a 6-day material science conference and had the honor of presenting our graduate school research.
The conference was really valuable, I got great feedback from my presentation and learned quite a bit. I was nervous before presenting (since it was in a huge auditorium), but both myself and Weez did great!
Well, Singapore, you far and away exceeded my expectations. What a trip down memory lane, it was. How much you’ve changed and grown and gotten even more glamorous, impressed me. I’m in love with your city, and I can’t wait to one day return with my future children. Or maybe even for work :) I wish.
And with that, concludes our trip-of-a-lifetime Cambodia-Malaysia-Singapore adventure. What a dream!
