5K Tues, Wicked Wed, and a crazy twitch eye

We (Cabo included!) went for an easy 60 minute run on Sunday to shake the legs out. Cabo is a natural runner (after she gets the crazy out, which takes about 5 minutes) and so much fun to bring with us on trail/regular runs. Plus, she’s a ton of fun to watch. Frolicking all over the place, jumping into streams. I can tell she’s having a blast, which makes me smile.
Running single file on the sidewalk on the way home :)

Weez and I are both racing tomorrow (yup, on a Tuesday) at the Boulder Res Dash n’ Dine series. We volunteered at the race last Tuesday, so they offered to let us race for free this week. Woohoo!

I’m ready to race my legs off¬†tomorrow. I’m leaving everything on the course, and I really want to go sub-20 (my previous PR is 20:32). I was chatting with Coach Jeff last week, and he jokingly told me that if I don’t PR or puke, I didn’t race hard enough. I laughed and agreed. Ya know, when I was in college, I pretty much raced till I puked 50% of the time. Gross? Maybe. But I PR’ed almost every time.

Wednesday is gonna be a great day this week also, because I’m going to see the musical Wicked! I’ve never seen it before, but I hear it’s awesome. I absolutely love musicals (Les Mis being my fave).

On a last, and totally random note, I’ve had an eye twitch for the past 2 days and it’s driving me bonkers. I don’t know what to do about it besides try to sleep more, but I’ve been getting 8hrs of sleep every night for the past, well, forever (I’m a grandma, I know).

Have you ever had a twitchy eye? What did you do to stop it?!
Have you ever raced so hard you’ve puked at the end? (bravo!)
Have you seen Wicked?? What’d you think?¬†

  1. I’ve heard that twitchy eye usually means not enough potassium. I usually eat a bunch of bananas (or drink some tasty banana filled smoothies) when I get a twitchy eye…
Wicked is AMAZING. I’ve seen it twice. :)

  2. Oh yes. The eye twitch. I’ve been having that very same problem as of late. I think for me it’s a lack of sleep and stress. It’s been going on for a few weeks. It stopped, then came back, then stopped again. Ultimately I’m not sure what made it go away. But yeah, some potassium might help. I have puked at the end of a race…but I didn’t PR. Wicked is excellent! Loved it.

Loving the new look on the blog, btw. :)

    • For a few weeks?! Dang, I’m sorry to hear that… you have a lot on your hands with the baby and Joe being gone, so the stress is understandable. I hope Joe is having a blast out there, keep on postin’ his pictures, they’re so great!

  3. Love the new look!! Good luck on your race tomorrow! You will PR! Wicked is amazing…I’ve seen it twice, the first time was with Kristin Chenowith (fabulous!!)! Sorry about the eye twitch…that happens to me when I’m stressed/not getting enough sleep. I like the banana suggestion though! Let us know if that works because if it does, I’ll def try it next time!!

  4. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR RACE!! I will be hoping for a PR for you!!

As for that eye twitch, I’ve been told that only time will make it go away.

And I’ve never seen Wicked but I REALLY want to! In theatre school I got to see all the blueprints from the set design and it looks absolutely incredible. I’m sure you’ll love it!

  5. Haven’t seen Wicked (yet), but Les Mis is my favorite as well. Even read the book in high school (brainiac alert – at least literature wise!).

I’ve had the twitchy eye thing and somewhere along the line, heard “quinine” is something that relaxes the muscles, etc. I think quinine is in selzter water or something like that. Good luck….so annoying huh?

    Hope your 5K was great!!
